Had the same problem on Quantal Quetzal (beta, x86_64).
DRI modules would not load. In my case it was r600_dri.so
I found the modules in: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri
That directory is not on the path searched by libgl when it tries to load the
modules. I solved it by symlinking:

like both fglrx and fglrx-updates were installed somehow and it was

Looks like it's the touchscreen driver. After disabling the Wacom module
didn't do anything, I disabled the hid-ntrig one, which stopped the
touchscreen working, and since then the bug seems to have disappeared.

I am seeing it on a T60 running Ubuntu 12.04 with an Intel 945 video
card. I have my lid set to "no action" so I am not even going into
suspend, and can get it to fail 20% of the time. There really is no
workaround except not closing the lid --- hope this is fixed soon. I

I can confirm that minecraft textures are all gray or black. Same situation in
some 3D games under wine (Battlefield series on BF2Engine for example).
Mesa 9.0 will be released soon, i hope they'll fix issues and
regressions(compared to 8.0.4).

Thanks! Actually the NVidia proprietary drivers (nvidia-current,
v295.40) installed from the repos under 'safe mode' are working fine for
me!
Of course I was able to do this action because I had the integrated
Intel graphics, when switched to NVidia card it was all garbage on the
screen...
