modules

I had exactly the same problem constantly since several years with
different Ubuntu versions and different nvidia drivers.
After adding agp=off to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in the grub
config the strange black dots problem is completely gone! :-)

I can confirm the same problem on a ThinkPad X220i. Most of the time the
error appears just randomly, however the system sometimes hangs for a

Ok, so I got an error again even with xdiagnose/quantal-proposed. Will

I just installed fglrx. Broke my system with this bug, and now I cannot
go back to my previous state. That's not the way to go to reach linux

I've only been able to get Unity running intermittantly using the Intel
x server, and not at all with radeon / fglrx.
I can consistantly get a running X server using the Intel drivers, but
even with opengl I get:

In order to install apport, I had to edit the xorg.conf file use the
VESA driver instead. There is absolutley NO way I could do anything in

Kyle, thanks for getting the info. If you could get an Xorg log showing
what happens when you start with openchrome, that would be ideal. What I
would do is start X with openchrome, switch to console, save the log and
go back to sing VESA.
