click top-right systray to open any app's indicator, close lid to enter
suspend, re-open it, then the touch screen works.
I use this way to enable the touch screen, but have no clue why it behave like

I did a fresh install on my laptop. At first login the unity did not
start correctly, it was missing the upper and left bar. I managed to get
unity running by starting terminal with ctrl+alt+t and running ccsm.
There I needed to enable unity but it was buggy so I did that

The last good kernel was 3.8.0-8.17 and the first bad kernel was
3.8.0-9.18. The changelog between the two releases is rather small but I
