Olibaf: the new driver is a great improvement, but it is still not good
enough I am afraid. For example, with the new driver the Dash still
takes about 4 seconds to show, coming up in several steps. With the
workaround setting MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=1.4 it comes up in about

..the option to bump mesa major release as SRU, that is. Backports are
too crazy.

I have noticed serious graphical issues that occur when e.g. watching a
video in the web browser (e.g. watching an HTML5 video in YouTube; I
don't have flashplayer installed). The graphics will start to slow up
and then lock for a few moments before releasing. If watching on an

But I noticed that input was extremely slow. I guess the triangle is

since the other chip is not supported by the kernel and/or the -ati
driver.. I guess the server could be more clever here and never load
vesa on a hybrid.

This returns the version of xterm when I expected it to open an xterm
window that would run then run the 'bash' with the -v option.

I'm seeing this as well.
I tried the poll fix and this helped with the random blanking, but now
the monitors go into power save mode after some time and don't come back
unless I re-plug.
Any ideas? I'm running on 13.04, so a little newer than this original
poster.

I just installed today's ubuntu saucy ISO [ saucy-desktop-amd64.iso
07-Oct-2013 07:48], which still had the color rainbow on the launcher
and panels.
After it was installed I ran all current updates which included mesa.
Now everything is fixed.
This also fixed gnome saucy which had some unusual

Hi, I hope this isn't too late but I had the same problem. It was a
wired mouse with the circle green plug end. I disconnected that one and
plugged in a USB mouse and the pointer showed up and has been working
fine.
