Well, using these steps to reproduce with a live CD, I went all the way
back to 12.0.4.3 LTS. Same thing happened. Since I know for a fact that
version worked properly for at least a year, I sadly conclude some
hardware part must have died.

I can confirm that I am seeing the same behavior when using a USB
DisplayLink monitor and Unity. I upgraded to a mainline kernel of 3.12
to get it working, and see the flashing mouse and slow graphics
behavior. uname -a output is:

The bug basically makes the cursor useless. Upon resuming the computer,
the cursor no longer moves in the x/y planes on the screen. The TouchPad
does seem to respond to some events still as I can use it to scroll

I've been experiencing very often system freezes, specially when I close
my laptop lid. I can't reproduce this issue, it just happens at random
times. My laptop is new and I highly doubt it's a HW problem, it must be
a graphics driver issue.

Hi Christopher.
I retested by installing the latest image on my notebook, the current
daily seems to have other problems impeding testing of this bug. Among
other things, it seems I can only put it to sleep once. I can resume
successfully from this sleep but when I sleep it again it just locks
Arrrgh--I spoke too soon! The black bar is back!
Since everything was OK with the ...stable development release? ...would
just installing that be a good idea?
