I've just been updated from 8.960 to 13.101, and things didn't go at all
well.
As far as I can tell fglrx failed to install, as the previous boot gave:

Actually this is not related to a kernel upgrade, rather to fglrx
upgrade. The problem is reproducible, it happens when installing fglrx
2:13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1 . I downgraded to the old version of fglrx,
2:8.960-0ubuntu1, and it works without a problem in newer and older
kernels, so the bug is relat
I've tested with the latest Ubuntu and Xubuntu nightly live USB images.
This is the first I had heard of those, and I'm very glad they are now
available, specifically for cases like this. Here are my results.

FWIW, I've just been redirected to this bug. While this is listed as a
'false GPU lockup', in my case the GPU was locked up for about 30
seconds before it spontaneously recovered.

I tried running apport-collect a few more times using a 14.04 daily
image, but keep getting these errors:

I did more testing with a clean install of Ubuntu x64 13.10 and getting
the usual updates and an XBMC nightly. Conclusion: XBMC runs fine
without any issues as long as I don't use "bitstream" audio. Once
bitstreaming is enabled and using ALSA directly the skipped frames
occur.

No it just means that linux is not handled in acpi, it has nothing to do
with the mouse sticky keys. But because windows is used for ACPI, this
doesn't matter one bit..

The bug is still there in a new installation of Trusty GNOME Ubuntu
daily built (updated fully) and is still there in my always-updated
Saucy installation.
It's discouraging to submit a bug report, hear nothing for three months,
and then get an email that since nothing has happened on the bug repo
I couldn't even install Trusty, btw, without booting the Live ISO with
"nomodeset"; otherwise, I had no panel or menus, as described above.

I have lenovo l700 with Ubuntu 12.04 and I temporarily fixed this
problem. Gimp crashes everytime when my 'touchpad-indicator' app is
working. It works just fine if I turn the app off and optionally disable
touchpad using cmd 'synclient TouchpadOff=1'.
