Since Ubuntu 13.10 my computer needs the additional driver video driver
for AMD graphic cards by fglrx. However, while installing (K)Ubuntu I
don't have that driver. So I can only use my computer for about 10
seconds, then have to wait for about 30 seconds while it's frozen

After upgrade to LTS 14.04 version, numeric keyboard (on the right of

8, 9 while actually capturing 1, 2, 3 when typing. Using USA and
Lithuania keyboards layouts. Tried to install other keyboards layouts
Yes, I confirm this to be an issue with swapping. Disabling swap
resolves the issue of garbled graphics at the memory peak level. If
you're running a computer with enough ram, the swap partition can
permanently be disabled by adding swapoff -a to /etc/rc.local
This is merely just a workaround.

@#19,finally, your advice is effected for my question. My touchscreen
return to work after I used your command. But a little problem is, every
time when it suspend/resume, it should be used this command, or the
touchscreen can't work. Maybe we can write a script to make this
automatically

I'm learning about Unix/Linux and I'm sure by the time I've learned enough I
will be able to give you a better response to this problem I'm having. I'm also
sure I will be reinstalling the OS I am using when I've learned enough to
install it properly. I'm good right now,
The attached script with the workaround mentioned in comment #19 ought
to do the trick. Simply copy it to the /etc/pm/sleep.d directory. I
tested it on my X201 Tablet, and I was able to get the touchscreen to
work on every resume.

I get a similar compiz error on amd64. In my case, booting 3.16.0.6
kernels or before work fine.
Booting amd64 3.16.0-7, -8, -9, -10 kernels on the same install the
desktop runs but compiz hence unity do not.
Booting the newer .iso the live session fails the same way. Follow
through with the
And one more thing: make sure that file permissions for the script are
correctly set; otherwise, the script may not run when the system
resumes. I would suggest running the following command after copying it
to /etc/pm/sleep.d to make sure it will run when the system resumes:
sudo chmod +x
I dont think this issue is resolved.
sudo dpkg -l nvidia-331
