I have exactly the same problem as eMKi (mkisovec), but with Ubuntu 14.04 and
dual video card system (Intel Hasewell and Nvidia GEForce 840M). I use Nvidia
trive 331 and Bumblebee. Used to work pretty fine.
The problem appeared today, may be due to a recently updated package.

PS: "syndaemon -i 1 -K d" doesn't work under my fresh installed Ubuntu
14.04 on the same machine …

Xorg crash with Trident driver after Xubunt

After upgrading Xubuntu 12.04 LTS -> 14.04.1 LTS, system boots to black
screen instead of desktop environment, but single user command line
works fine. Problem traced to xorg-server segfault crash in the Trident
driver as below (summary of details already uploaded). The code

booted into 3.16.0-14-generic and all seems well.

live session lacks framebuffer devices (/dev/fb*) for VirtualBox/VMware.
Just for comparison, my Lubuntu system installed in a VirtualBox VM does

Beware, it hasn't been reviewed yet, values may be specific to my
card/setup.
Also, I only enabled my change on nve0 cards, so GTX 780 is likely to
see no change.
