I also ran into this issue after upgrading to Trusty (nvidia driver
331.38). Checking Force full screen redraws and Force synchronization
between X and GLX seems to have helped.

Actually, scratch that, the two options did not help at all. The
flickering is terrible as before. I restarted the machine to make sure.
When I have two Chrome browser windows open, one works fine, but the
other flickers like crazy when switching tabs.

This problem hit me hard today. Problems like this definitely diminish
the user trust in the Ubuntu upgrade process.
The solution was a painful manual rollback, using the output of dpkg
--get-selections from before the upgrade (this old habit has saved me
in more than one occasion). Getting my
