Discovered another behaviour. If you play with the brightness controls
under Xorg, nothing changes. However, suspend the computer and resume
it, and the brightness will be setup to the last setup you left when
playing with the brightness controls. Thus, the value in the kernel

initially after 14.10 upgade. Today I can frequently only get one left

I'm seeing this on Trusty, on an HP Z420 and an HP Z620, both with
nVidia cards.
It occurs primarily when transitioning between workspaces. I've found
that I can (mostly) work around it by always transitioning first to a
blank workspace (one with no windows, just the background image), and

Shawn Willden, thanks for your comment. As I have changed my hardware out, and
this is unreproducible on AMD based hardware, I consider this report closed. It
would be best if you have a problem in Ubuntu to file a new report via a

Public bug reported:
After upgrading from trusty to utopic, I noticed a performance
degradation in the video performance. In particular the flash plugin
video (like youtube) starts OK but it degrades after a couple of seconds
when in full screen, looking as if it was doing something like 10~15
I tried booting with kernel 3.13.11.11 (AFAIK trusty uses kernel 3.13 at
least) form http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and the
problems are the same, the only message I don't get in the console is
*ERROR* timed out waiting for panel to power on but switching to the

Xorg is usually using about 25% of CPU, sometimes it reaches 30-40%. It
doesn't hurt but as I have a Core2 Duo P8600 CPU which is quite fast I
assume 25% is quite a large amount of resources. Or am I wrong?
