Here's what Ubuntu GNOME Vivid 20150119 i386 boots to when it should
display Try or Install. I was able to enter the advanced boot menu and
run check disc for defects so I know it's not just a bad burn.

I have probably the same issue. System freezes and I have to do hard
power off (did not try ctrl+alt+f1 or external mouse). I tried to switch
of nvidia and seems it works few hours without freeze. If it occurs I
will try to get some logs.

Happens to me with my NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M. Happens even using usb
