After upgrading to (32bit) vivid I hadn't got any problem, but since a
day (daily upgraded) booting results in a dialog saying low graphics
mode and a dialog window about this. Choosing running in default mode

I had the same bug, I confirm that enabling the proposed repositories
made things work correctly and allowed ubuntu-sdk to be installed. Nice

The easiest way to fix this without installing extra packages (like
cheese), is:
1. Downgrade the parts of the enablement stack that caused the problem
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends xserver-xorg libgl1-mesa-glx
libegl1-mesa-drivers
2. (Optional) Clean up extra packages
sudo apt-get

With the workaround, I also notice that X's ability to resume on restart
is a LOT faster, almost instantaneous. Previously on Trusty and Vivid,
it would freeze up for a few seconds on restore.
