In the first two weeks of owning a Broadwell T550, I have suffered about
two dozen abrupt power-offs. This has happened:
a) While resuming from suspend.
b) While in normal operation and just moving the mouse.
c) While switching from X to console by pressing ctrl-alt-F1.

OK, even with this intel driver configuration:
a) xv doesn't work
b) the machine still suffers random power-offs.
New workaround:

Xserver does not start on boot (low-graphics mode)

The dialog box saying low graphics mode allows me to exit to console, if
I do that, I can see on console 7 (ALT+F7):
[FAILED] Failed to start Light Display Manager.
See "systemctl status lightdm.service" for details.

It happens for me too with an Intel integrated video card. The error
occurs when spotify tries to load advertisements or the header part for
a playlist. I don't know if the error is connected to the video driver
at all. Im on ubuntu 14.10.
