I’m experiencing this with both 14.04 and 15.04
I have tried just Ubuntu installs, and dual boot with Windows 8.1 and it
always affects Ubuntu but never any hiccups on win.

I have the same problem with xUbuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr)
I guess it will never be fixed, so we have to install windows xp instead :(
Laptop: Acer Aspire 3104 (AMD Sempron 3500+)

I had huge slow-down and cpu usage with the nouveau packages for my nvidia card.
lspci tells I have a GT 320M.
It works way much better with the proprietary drivers.
I had this problem under linux mint since 17.1, cinnamon 2.6 and under debian 8
with cinnamon 2.6 too.

I do not believe that this bug is isolatable to zorg. I have seen this
bug at least weekly and I'm keeping my 12.04 system up-to-date. I can
sometimes get around the problem by killing off tasks, starting with
Chrome and Eclipse, that use a lot of threads, but that takes a lot of
