There are no held back packages when you format the system partition. I
did it at first, keeping files in /home, and even with all packages
removed/installed afresh, this didn't do it. Settings are being not
properly migrated from 15.10.
I nevertheless leave this bug as invalid, as it won't occur

packages, third party software, non-default configs, or other remnants
preventing the fix from the taking affect.
To clarify, the act of having a /home directory in itself wouldn't cause

Performing "do-release-upgrade -d" won't do the job. Only a fresh
install in which I specifically had to format the /home partition did it
for me. (I use the full HD monitor to watch videos in background).
I reopen this bug, because upgrading from 15.10 to 16.04 won't fix it
unless /home partition

I've just booted into my Xubuntu install to run usb-devices. Typically
the mouse worked on this particular instance. I ran the command anyway.
I then rebooted straight into the live version of xenial that I

The bug disappeared with one of the latest updates, i.e. with kernel

Hi Christopher.
I downloaded the xenial-desktop-amd64 ISO last night, imaged it to USB
and have just tested running it in live mode. Unfortunately it's
exactly the same. The mouse buttons work, but the pointer won't move at
all.

This helped only ever so slightly. Windows look only slightly better.
Clicked point is still not aligned with cursor's position. Windows are
still ugly, although a little bit more legible than before upgrading the
