Laptop sometimes doesn't detect external

I've done a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04 on my Asus G501 but the two
finger scrolling isn't working. The touchpad works but sometimes after
restarting it doesn't get detected and so I have to shutdown in order to
get it working again.

Hello,
Currently touching the touchpad the cursor does not move, and it seems to
click, but it does not work.
In the past the Cypress touchpad worked with the Synaptics controller
