I managed to solve my issue: I found a passive DisplayPort to HDMI
adapter that works (the colors on the TV are as expected).
But I still think that there is a software issue, or an issue that ca be
solved with software, since with the exact same hardware the colors are
fine with certain software.
I confirm that the bug is still there...

I can reproduce the black screen thing with Faerie on radeon hw, but
installing libgles1-mesa doesn't help. So it's just a bug in the radeon
DRI driver.

I have the same problem on 16.04.2 Xenial since upgrading the Kernel to
4.4.0-75 yesterday.
Booting the the older kernel version 4.4.0-72-generic seems to be a workaround.
