We upgraded from 16.04.3 LTS to avoid the freeze, but it's still exist. This
problem was never happened befor with W7.

I have the same problem.
It seems, that the problem came with kernel 4.12.
Nvidia-304 has worked without problems for me in artful with kernels up till
4.11.

I am unable to open the Ubuntu Software application.
The display after selecting it is the working symbol, however the window
doesn't display.
Please advise on a remedy.
Actually, it's still not quite perfect in gimp even with version 3.2,
eg:
* Open an image
* Select eg the rectangle select tool
* Select an area with the stylus
* At this point, the mouse usually doesn't work any more - eg try and select an
area with the mouse or try and select another tool
