The bug I found is this, I suspend the machine, and when I wake it up,
the display doesn't work correctly or doesn't display the video or
things correctly. It looks like if I hadn't the display driver in that
moment. It looks like with a wrong resolution, a lower resolution,

ground, and you have tested the latest version of Ubuntu, I'll mark this

2) If you don't connect the Wavlink device to the laptop, do the mouse symptoms

(1.3.54) as well.
3) This issue occurred with 17.04, 17.10 (as of yesterday) and now

I can confirm awensley's characterization of this bug. I have exactly
the same issue:
OS: Ubuntu 16.04 x64
Kernel: 4.10.0-37-generic
X.Org X Server: 1:7.7+13ubuntu3 (v1.19.3)
Monitor 1: 1920 x 1080 - Laptop's Native Monitor
Monitor 2: 1920 x 1080 - DisplayLink (USB) connected AOC E2775SJ Monitor
In /etc/gdm3/custom.conf, on [debug] section, I activated Enable=true,
here is the complete startup log.
But following command didn't work in chroot (to get more infos from gdm)

After having also downgraded libdrm (of course I did not reapply updates
on my main system after other reverts), it still doesn't start and stays
at Ubuntu screen (UID 121)...

Since my upgrade from ubuntu 16.04 to 17.10 the output to an external
monitor via docking station and displayport doesn't work anymore.
I can activate the external monitor via arandr (from xmonad) but there
is no output.
Disper is not working anymore (segmentation fault).
