i don't watch heaps, but enough that xorg has frozen up on me about 3
times in the last week both in vlc and youtube. This time in particular
it was playing youtube when it froze, the sound played on a bit further
then it stopped too, the mouse was still able to move the curs
I had the same problem on my desktop with Ubuntu 16.04 but #32 worked
for me. It too was driving me crazy.

Mouse pointer occasional
Hello, note that apt-get -u dist-upgrade is not actually a supported
mechanism to upgrade from one release to another. The supported
mechanism is via the do-release-upgrade tool in the ubuntu-release-
upgrader-core package.
Probably you can make this work somehow, but it might be best to look
for

-install nvidia 390 (or any older - check or switch using "Additional Drivers"
app on Ubuntu ), and then, install:
-DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Ubuntu 4.1 (or newer I guess)
Restart and done!
