I'd point my finger a the amdgpu driver in that case. Unplugging the
monitor in question did the trick (allowed system to blank properly).

getting the issue? Also having a screenshot from the problem would help to
understand what you describe exactly.
Does the issue impact other softwares? Does it go away after a refresh or UI
changes?

Also, next time the freeze occurs please log into the machine via ssh
and run:
