frequent color snowing on screen after resuming from suspend

You have been subscribed to a public bug:
For the last 2 days my Thinkpad X13 laptop frequently opens with snowing
pixels across the whole screen. The only way to stop it seems to be to
hard-reset my laptop.

There is no backlight control for desktops with external monitors.
Although in Xorg sessions you can use this to simulate it:
xrandr --output NAME --brightness VALUE
Also "the screen has pathches" sounds like bug 1867668. You need to
remove the old 'intel' driver
