It is still an issue in 14.10, I also believe that there is an ongoing
discussion about it on the kernel bugzilla [1] and the issue is
unresolved.
I'll test the latest Kubuntu daily image and see how that goes.

stopped too. Mouse cursor is the only thing I can control on the screen.
