Public bug reported: So I have a monitor that I'v connected to my computer via HDMI. I close my laptop and begin watching youtube on my monitor but the mouse is all glitchy. It keeps returning to the same spot every 1 and a half seconds. At first I'm like "ok, maybe I'll go away". Nope, after 15 minutes it just gets really annoying because it's so hard to click on something that you might as well not be able to click at all.
Note: this problem only occurs when my laptop computer screen is closed ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+13ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-27.29-generic 4.8.1 Uname: Linux 4.8.0-27-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat Nov 19 12:09:57 2016 DistUpgraded: 2016-11-14 17:41:45,546 DEBUG icon theme changed, re-reading DistroCodename: yakkety DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [1025:0712] InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-10-25 (25 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) LightdmDisplayLog: [Xi] Too many valuators reported for device 'Virtual core pointer'.
