the patches on the 30th fixed my problems. monitor detected fine as AOC
17"
startup detection of monitor perhaps? the card was working fine
including compiz running fine and no other performance problems while at
800x600 so it was just simple the monitor resolution detection

further testing
the monitor is detected as "Unknown".. it is a bit of a no brand being a
AOC 17" LCD lm726 (http://www.compucon.com.au/lcd/AOC726.htm).. I cannot
remember now what it was detected as before but I will note this when
hopefully it returns

Hi there
thought I would +1 to this bug as it is pretty show stopping. I just
updated to the latest patches today (partial upgrade) and have got this
again
it happened earlier in the alpha but was rectified.. now it has happened
