`fuser /dev/input/event15` showed a process called mouseemu was holding
on to the device preventing it from working propperly.
Killing that process allows the pad to work correctly it seems though
I'm unsure what caused mouseemu to run in the first place.

Public bug reported:
nvidia-settings no longer has a rotation entry because the driver now
supports the relevant version of RandR to allow the system tools to do
it itself.
However, once randr is set via the system tools, nvidia-settings X
Server Display Configuration no longer accurately
Upon further investigation, the xorg segfault logs posted are another,
apparently unrelated problem. : /

After reading the duplicate candidate, I do not believe this is the same
bug.
As far as I know this bug is specific to 3.x kernels, and is not related
to a symlink problem but rather a compile problem resulting from a
missing symbol 'TS_USEDFPU'
** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 601447
Also, after reading the relevant code, I believe it would not affect
x86_64 as the define guard around it would remove the offending code for
x86_64.

@Paulus: Why does that work? What does that say about the original
issue/why is this different in Karmic vs Jaunty?
