I am running Lucid on my HP 6830s, and this bug do not affect me now. So
i am marking this bug as fixed.

Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI
I hope this new information helps in some way. I can confirm that when i
use the 2d open-source ati driver with google earth it lags so much that
i can´t use it. And if you mean the ati fglrx driver, i can not use the
fglrx driver on my laptop because of a 2 second lag with every window i
open or
