Adding nomodeset to the kernel command line for 2.6.31-14 worked. I will
happily be a guinea pig for testing, since I own one of these awesome panels.

You don't get the white ubuntu logo. I can plug in an external monitor
and I see a display on that monitor. It is the LCD panel from AUO
causing the problems. Also, if I select the last kernel from Intrepid
(2.6.28-16) in grub, then everything works great (but FF3.5 is very
