As soon as I touch my Acer T231H multi-touch touchscreen, the left mouse
button stays pressed. Reconnecting all HID devices does not release the mouse
button. Only restarting lightdm (or the whole computer)
I just found the exact same problem in an old bug report for Ubuntu
11.04, which is marked as solved / fix released:

I have an Acer T231H touchscreen monitor connected to my notebook. To make
the touchscreen work properly I always used this command: xinput set-prop 'Acer
T231H' 'Coordinate Transformation Matrix' 0.545454 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1
This should configure the touchscreen to be
On LUbuntu 12.04, the mouse pointer also jumps around after I used that
command. The only difference is that the system doesn't freeze.
