Verified this on a default 10.10 install + all updates on a sandybridge based machine. Prior to this fix, any use of Xv would lock the desktop environment up. Using 2:2.12.0-1ubuntu5.1 from -proposed, I'm now able to render video with applications like totem, and rhythmbox successfully --chris
