Some things to add:
* I suspend at least daily, this strikes me on one out of five resumes.
* I have never experienced any lockups on resume on this machine (installed
around maverick) until upgrade to precise alpha, so this is a regression for
precise.

The bug affects me too. Killing compiz as you requested didn't really
fix the issue. X was updated again, but unity/compiz did not restart.
Manually restarting unity/compiz (DISPLAY=:0.0 compiz from tty1) re-
freezed X, which could subsequently not be unfrozen by killing compiz.
Let me know how I
Update:
I enabled rc6 again, ALPM too.
Everything runs fine (my battery is a bit more happy) so far.
But: apport-gpu-error keeps popping up and wants to report the same error (but
nothing seems to be wrong to me).
Is there some cache I have to clean?

Public bug reported:
There might be two causes of this bug:
- I had S-ATA ALPM activated and high IO activity (unTarring a system backup)
- My screen started flickering upon opening Google MapsGL, but the GPU seemed
to be hanging before that.
I added i915.i915_enable_rc6=0 to my cmdline now,

Binary package hint: xinput
After switching touchpad off/on keyboard and mouse input stops working.
I then have to restart gdm to get it to work again.
I would not expect switching touchpad off/on would affect the keyboard
or mouse.
Not sure it's the right package.
