Hi again, I tried the 9.10 Live-CD but didn't install. Resolution is OK and SystemPreferencesDisplay shows everything as normal: monitor is Laptop at 1024x768 (4:3) 60hz. It should perhaps be mentioned that I did fresh install last with Hoary and online Distribution Upgrade from HoaryIntrepid

Public bug reported: I've tested all versions of Ubuntu since Warty on my aging Acer TravelMate 291 XC and never before Jaunty did I get this problem: The Intel 82852/82855 gfx card is not recognized and xorg falls back to 'vesa'. I can see that the gfx is working; the progress bar during boot
