Hello,
I believe this issue was a duplicate of bug #740126: in fact, Xorg
stopped freezing when bug #740126 was fixed.
Marking this as a duplicate.

Public bug reported:
Xorg server freezes randomly after an upgrade to Natty.
I suspect this to be a duplicate of bug #740126. Most symptoms match:
* Happens when the screensaver (blank screen) is active
* The mouse cursor changes when moving it on different part of the screen, as
if

As suggested in bug #740126, I collected information from
i915_error_state and gdb. I am reporting it, although I don't see
anything useful.
$ sudo cat /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state
no error state collected
$ sudo gdb Xorg $(pgrep X)
(gdb) print grabState
$1 = 0
(gdb) thread apply

That quirk is already implemented in drm_edid.c both in the linus tree
and in the ubuntu tree, and in
Booting from a Jaunty LiveCD, I have looked at Xorg.0.log. It uses a
quirk I have not found in xf86EdidModes.c:
(II) intel(0): EDID vendor LPL, prod id 0
(II) intel(0): EDID quirk: Detailed timings give sizes in cm.

Public bug reported:
On Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala I am experiencing again bug #151311, which
had been solved on Ubuntu.810 Intrepid Ibex.
Detailed timing reports an incorrect screen size, whereas max image size
is correct:
