Working in the latest version of Ubuntu. It looks like an upstream update of fglrx fixed it. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member

Xorg.log attached, just in case. Now it goes to the low-graphics mode warning screen but I can actually exit to the console at this stage whereas before I coudn't. I'm not sure if my graphics card is officially supported since it's not on the list here:

I've never been able to get to the Console once I get the error message that Ubuntu is starting in low graphics mode. If I opt to Run in low graphics mode for just one session the display freezes. The same happens if I opt to Exit to console login or if I press Ctrl + Alt + F1 or Ctrl + Alt +

2014-04-27 Thread David Maza
Public bug reported: Hello, I have an AMD R9 270X graphics card and Ubuntu will occasionally go into low-graphics mode when starting up. At that point I cannot do anything apart from drop into the terminal. It happens sporadically, about 3/4 of the time. Often a reboot will fix it however

Also when I installed each driver, I either uninstalled or purged all other ones before doing so. e.g. apt-get remove --purge fglrx* -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313289
