I have had quite some issues with the touchpad on my 2013 DELL XPS 13
since installing 18.04. It worked fine on previous versions.
Typical observations:
- lag
- cursor movements being interrupted
- more lag
- single/double tap not being detected consistently

Chiming in to say I experience the same thing, extreme slowdown and
stuttering in chromium but only when a second window is open on a
separate workspace.
uname -a: Linux Latitude-7480 4.8.0-41-generic #44-U
Also experiencing problems under ubuntu 10.10 with the recent update.
Managed to downgrade xorg usjng the provided deb package. After running
dpkg-reconfigure fglrx (I use an ati gfx card) Xorg still fails to start. Any
ideas?

I noticed my mouse being kind of jerky since the update and kslowd00
seems to take up a lot of CPU time which led me to this:

Which also seems to be related to DRM, Intel and Ubuntu. Could it be
that the commit they are referring to isn't
I needed this PPA too, default Maverick upgrade broke my system.
I'm running Ubuntu on a HP-Compaq Dc5800 with an onboard Intel
Corporation 82Q33 Express Integrated Graphics Controller.
Installing the updates from the PPA fixed it.

Alas, I don't have access to the original iBook G4 hardware anymore. My
understanding of the current xorg stack is too limited to judge if this
kind of user experience issue still exists on 10.04 or newer Ubuntu
versions.

I have encountered the same problem on my IBM Thinkpad X40 after upgrading
Karmic to Lucid Lynx.
My display adapter :

I can confirm that enabling KMS fixed the freezing and now I am able to
boot in a normal man
With Karmic Alpha-2 the problem is still exists.
