Following the ubuntu wiki's instructions on how to enable hibernate in
16.04 resulted in no change. I created a file
/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla
with the following contents and rebooted my computer:
[Re-enable hibernate by default
The problem I was describing wasn't related to what actually happened
and I solved my problem bug #1005629 & bug #991594.

Tried the 12.04 x64 Saturday March 1 daily live cd and went to tty1
after my screen froze and noticed that error. Xorg didn't crash though.

Whenever I log-in with Unity 2D or 3D, the Unity dock doesn't appear, but the
top panel is there with only the globalmenu. 1st it happened after a couple
days of using Precise alpha 2. I installed the system 1 day after it was
released.
