Can you try the trick described by Zdeněk Janák: "I had the same problem on ATI Radeon 9200 PRO. Disable Option EnablePageFlip in Device Section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf fix it. It should looks like this Section "Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "radeon" Option "EnablePage
