the crash can be reproduced quite easily here. just fire up gwenview,
browse your photos and as soon as you hit a video it crashes. i guess
any other video application does the trick too.

Could you be more specific about your hardware?
Alpha5 boots and installs just fine on my Laptop with 855GM.
