Trying to reconfigure Xorg not to use the intel driver, I ran: Xorg -configure :1 This just gave me a black screen with a mouse pointer... Since using the keys to switch workspaces lead to changes in the mouse pointer, I understood that my apps where still there, but not displayed... I used C-A-S
