I'm having the same problem with both Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04. Commenting
the line
modifier_map Mod3 { Scroll_Lock };
does help but it does not solve it. My system does not freeze anymore
but CPU usage still goes unusually up.
In addition, setting the brightness with the mouse by clicking and

I have verified on Bionic.
I tested the new packages in bionic-propoesed on ThinkPad L15, which
only have one resolution before. And the new packages in focal-proposed
works. The details:
0. the resolution supported, only one: 1920x1080
1. open bionic-proposed channel and 'sudo apt update'.

I, too, have this problem. U+0054 is a "T", and in the normal XTerm logo
there's a blue T at that location. I think Gnome does not handle this
kind of icon and glitches out on the Unicode character

I removed USB dongle and reinserted it and the scroll wheel normalized, but

The mouse didn't stopped responding, but changed scroll wheel behavior. It
is too sensitive, jumping the page, making it impossible to be used.
Running in Wayland it maintains its normal behavior.

It seems to have been solved after logging in Ubuntu on Wayland.
Now I am on default Ubuntu and nothing is happening anymore.
I continue testing it.

I just tested the new libxrandr2 package on precise with X2Go and nx-
libs 2:3.5.0.20.
The kwin crashes are gone, indeed. So far so good. However, the NX
capability of resizing a non-fullscreen desktop session window is
completely gone now.

And yes, the workaround posted in comment #14 fix the issue. I've put it
in a shell script and execute it when I plug the headset. We can also
create a udev rule to execute the script right after plugging in the
headset, right? :-)
And do you know if this is fixed in newer releases? (12.10)

I am also being affected by this bug using a Plantronics 655. This is
VERY anoying and didn't happened in 10.04 :-S
