Hey there,
I want to reopen this bug, since I still have this issue with randr and
the fglrx driver on my new natty installation.
I'm on ubuntu 11.04
and have tried with the newest fglrx-installer (2:8.840-0ubuntu4).

that's what i tried before. It just turned out that's "easier" to attach the
external screen by login in at classic desktop (without effects).
But this doesn't mean it is working properly. It's again a trial and error.

Attaching esternal

When I attach my external screen to the notebook, both screens are
turning black and I'm not able to control my system any more.
Sometimes it is possible to log out attach the screen and log in again, with
the screens are both working in the right
I replaced the old synaptics.conf with a new one ehich didn't solve the
problem.
So I reinstalled the whole system...and did all updates again.
Now everything is fine.
