I just tried again with the latest build of Precise Pangolin as
suggested by guys in #ubuntu-x. Unfortunately it is not fixed yet.

Can not boot up with the latest Ubuntu Oneiric Ocelot without setting
nomodeset. I tried this on both Kubuntu as well as on Ubuntu. Previous
releases are also affected.
