Hopefully this will be fixed for the next LTS. My main desktop (HP Pavilion A300n) is running 8.04 for this very reason. Something to try that might improve stability is booting with ACPI=OFF. However, the performance is hardly usable. It's about 5 sec between mouseclick and screen change. 82845
