A simple workaround for this card is to lower the color depth to 16 as suggested in the xorg.0.log. This can be done by adding the following section to the /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Section "Screen" DefaultDepth 16 Identifier "Default Screen" EndSection Tested this with resolutions upto 1920x1080 it works fine, the reduced color depth is not noticeable on most LCD panels. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-sis in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592447 Title: X shows noise on screen (SiS 661/741- pci id 1039:6330 rev 03) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-sis/+bug/592447/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
