The corruption seems to have disappeared on text and mostly on icons,
but the software centre in progress animated icon still displays
corruption as the white arrow image appears warped and detached from the
shadow behind.

When I suspend and resume I still have full screen corruption. The mouse
can move on top while the background flickers.

Same problem for me with a clean install of Ubuntu 12.10. Noticed in
Ubiquity and Software Centre for me as well.

Title:
kernel module version
Public bug reported:
Upgrading from 10.04 desktop to 10.10 fails to give me the graphical
login. It dropped me to a login terminal, and when I removed xorg.conf
the screen would just go blank. I was using fglrx with 10.04.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10
Package: xorg-driver-fglrx

'apt-get remove fglrx' solved the problem.
Attached is xorg.conf that I removed when trying to resolve the issue.

The latest nvidia drivers available for GeForce FX is 173. If you are
experiencing the black window issue with Jaunty or Karmic, you should
reopen this bug report. If you are experiencing a different issue, you
should report that as a new bug. Thanks.
