Ok, I did the test, if it can help I can do the same on my 10.04 install
where the touchpad is correctly detected.

I attached a wireless mouse and it works fine.
Please note that touchpad also works except for the bottom part (hardware is
tested and works ok in Ubuntu 10.04).

I'm trying the LiveUSB daily image of Ubuntu Maverick (04. October) on
HP Compaq 6710b and 1cm on the bottom of the touchpad is not working, it
worked perfectly in Ubuntu 10.04 and I didn't notice it when I tested
