Public bug reported: Problem after today's kernel update to version 13.01 via update manager boot process stops with black screen before lightdm is loaded. Can boot into desktop using previous kernel without issue other than the bug notice from bad kernel install. I am going to purge amd drivers

Purging and reinstalling fglrx amd drivers has worked can now reach the desktop all seems to functioning as expected. with kernel 3.13.-01 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer-updates in Ubuntu.

Hi Neon, If you are running ubuntu 12.04 even if you are running gnome-shell, you have compiz and unity installed. To verify go to terminal, type the following two commands and note the output. unity --version ( that is unity (space) --(two dashes)version. You should see the installed versions
