Found a workaround: Replaced the window manager xfce4wm by metacity.
This works! And your multi-touch remains.
sudo apt-get install metacity
metacity --replace
Then you can go to sessions-and-startup from the control panel and save
the session to keep metacity as your default window decorator.

The problem must be xfce4-wm, as other applications do take touches.
However, I can't seem to touch the content of a website in firefox
either. After clicking once with the mouse I am able to click anywhere
on the website, but other GUI elements do not respond any more.
