I also tried the packages from proposed on top of 18.04.0 on which I
could reproduce the original issue and the packages from proposed fixed
it. double verification done.

In bionic I couldn't verify the original bug because the HWE packages in
18.04.4 don't seem to be affected by this bug.
However, on 18.04.4 I uninstalled the HWE stack and replaced it by the
packages in proposed and couldn't reproduce this issue. I didn't notice
any other problem with the update.
