The system freezes randomly since I installed Ubuntu 16.04. I think
there's a problem with nvidia drivers. The graphic card is Nvidia
GeForce 7050/NForce 610i. I use the nouveau driver. Before this I used

making "sudo update-grub2" in the main partition, with Ubuntu 14.04.3 (I
use 3 partitions with 3 different OS,). In previous tests I did run

said, I think what happened to my system during the upgrade process
might have caused this. When I saw your comment about the bug being
deeper than X I decided to re-install the libc6 packages and the bug is

May I help anyway to solve this bug?, i mean, i'm not a developer, but
this bug affects me. May i upload some logs or my system configuration?
I've tried all vsync configuration proposed here but with no results...

It turns out that I did upgrade the X packages to 1.9 (I was confused by
the 1.8.99... version number). I'm sorry Harry, your first suggestion
was right from the beginning. As far as the workaround, sadly, it
didn't work. I'm attaching the Xorg log in case it provides any useful
information. At
I could not go back to a previous kernel. Could someone at least tell
me if this is possibly a bug or something that I'm doing wrong (maybe
using wrong packages)?

I find it difficult to believe that I've done something wrong, since
I've just been updating my system regularly and the drivers were working
fine a few upgrades before this bug presented itself. I wonder what I'm
missing to get this fixed. Please, anyone have any idea?

either. I do have the latest grub packages and tried the changes you
suggested with no change using the current nvidia packages or the 173

Hey Harry, thanks for the suggestions. I tried
uninstalling/reinstalling the nvidia-current package with no success. I
also tried to run the nvidia-xconfig tool, also unsuccessfully. I don't
think I'm using too recent xorg packages because I've just been updating
this system regularly. To make

After a recent upgrade of the nvidia packages on this system, when X
starts with the current nvidia drivers, the screen remains blank and I
have to reboot in safe mode to remove the drivers and edit the xorg.conf
file to use the VESA driver. I hope someone can help me resolv
I have a similar problem ocasionally in ubuntu 10.04, with compiz/gnome.
I managed to take a screenshot:
